Next job is to build the trailing edge, start building the aileron spars and trigger a bunch of zombies that do nothing but criticize me! |

Since the aileron spar web already has a splice in the middle according to the plans and I didn't have any 8ft 1/8" ply I added two more splices at the inboard and outboard sections.

finished installing the aileron spar web on the right wing. The plywood covered ribs can now be installed. Got the tip rib glued in place, the root rib will have to be cut for the spar fittings. To save a little weight when it comes to varnishing the inside of the leading edge plywood I plan to spray it. From there its a bunch of tiny details to build the ailerons, then do the same for the other wing so it doesn't get left behind. I try to get something done everyday, it told me to do that in the plans.

I have been keeping a log of what weighs what. Fuselage 93 lbs as it sits, wings, 45 lbs after leading edge sheeting. Tail 14 lbs. Rotax 277 69 lbs, wing struts 11.4lbs. Prop 5.5 lbs. The himax is easily capable of making part 103. If you fail to plan, plan to fail. |

Fuselage 93lbs??? With just wood and metal struts and “legs”? Isn’t it too heavy?? Can you tell us the fuselage bare weight without landing gear and gauges? |

No one was banned. What made you think that? Are you feeling guilty for something? See - http://www.lonesomebuzzards.com/cgi-bin/forum/Blah.pl?m-1543290008/BTW, thanks for trimming the photos down. I got this from google the other day so I've limited upload size to .5 mb but I can't limit to pixel width yet so keep images less than 1k pixel width. Thanks

Right wing spar pin is drilled, that was quite a job, definatelly a two person operation. I wanted to get these critical holes.drilled so I can finish building the fuse.

I exceeded the wood seat failure point after hearing a crack from sitting in the plane.the glue didn't fail but plywood separated. I think ulbuilder had the issue. Surprised there isn't a ad on this! |

There is: Weight and Balance of the PILOT! I couldn't resist.... LMAO That seat structure is a bit flimsy, but at 230# I haven't cracked mine, but failure is imminent! Probably crack my tailbone when it does. |

Here is a picture of the cracked plywood, I already know how to fix the problem but it would be embarrassing to fly around with your butt sticking out of the bottom of the plane.

Here's pic's of my seat reinforcement that I did this 25 years ago and have had no problems so far and I'm a 240 pounder. You don't want a broken seat resting on top of the elevator cable or jamming the aileron bell crank.

Two small wood blocks glued to the fuselage seat belt plywood so the rs10 will will take.the load .seat loads will be transfered to the fuselage instead of the plywood. |

That's at 1 G, I've hit a thermal pocket in a Cherokee that felt like it was going to throw me down through the bottom as it pitched it up darn near vertical..... |

Why does the slip ball need to indicate up to 45º? Are you planning to do much of your flying sideways? Bruce |

I'm only saying this out of concern, but the plies appear to be a bit thick, and looks as if there is voids in the core in the picture which would make me question the grade of plywood? |

The plywood is marine grade fir from aircraft spruce. I have added blocks so the rs10 glued under the seat will.take all the load. From an engineers perspective my airplane will be more near the utility or aerobatic category because it will be so light and retain all of.the changes. I won't be doing any aerobatics, not my cup of.tea! |

I built a new seatboard and installed blocks to keep the seat ply from every breaking again. I am not a aircraft engineer talk with team before making these modifications. Team did put out a ad to make the wing strut brackets from solid bar stock.

Got the second wing spar pins drilled. Fitting the skin that will cover the top of the fuse. To save weight the rear windshield will be replaced by rs members and 1/4 " foam panels.
