The gear legs do but up to the fuselage doesnt look like itin the picture because the nuts were all loose there is a steel strap that goes across on the inside the bolts go into an alum angle and the strap attaches to that i will take a picture when it is done. |

A little more progress. The leg still needs to come off again for routing and varnish as well as varnishing the bolt holes. But for now time to get the other side fitted. I also put a picture of the steel strap that goes across to absorb the landing loads

I did some work on the other gear leg. Its enough done that i had to put the axle in slip the wheels on and snap a picture. Wheels and axle came right back off though. There another picture of the metal strap to take up some of the landing loads. There will be one like it in the back too

I worked on fabricating the metal fasteners for the underside of the gear legs. I made five of them although i only needed 4. Little error somewhere in measuring where to drill the bolt holes in one. The rear metal strap is now done and i decided how i plan to put in the seat belts.

Thanks ironnerd
Today i took the gear back off. I did think ahead and label all the hardware so i know where it goes back on though. I set the fuselage back on the ground so i can work on the center section better, so its not so high. I cut out the rudder petals. Did some varneshing of the seat. Seatback and floor board. I also cut the 4 center section posts to size. Sorry forgot to take a picture. I managed to get the first pass around the gear legs with a router done too.

More progress on the center wing supports. And one has been dry fitted seems to fit well

Sanded and trimmed the center posts then dry fitted them. Next off to the router with them. I think it may be challenging keeping it all square when they are glued in place.

I ran the router over the gear legs and the center posts. As i was sweeping up the pile of sawdust i created i changed my mind about not staining those parts so went to pick out a stain. I was almost home before i realized i forgot to snap some pictures. |

I just noticed you have a build thread over at nobuiltairplanes.com zero responses, maybe we can build airplanes with our feelings now. |

They cant respond to the threads in the member build logs. Im not sure of the reasoning but i think it may be so when you are done just hit print and bingo a build log to show the DAR. I like the homebuiltairplanes site and i like this one too. I also have a thread in a pietenpol forum. Please keep things positive of course if you see anything unsafe in a build say so though. Remember many members are on both sites. Please dont hijack this thread to badmouth another aviation site or anyone else |

I really like your wheels. Will you be adding the streamline covering or leave them open? |

Crummy weather today so got some shop time in. I did a lot of sanding. Then glued the center section together. I cut drilled and attached the hinges to the rudder peddles. I put one coat of stain on the gear legs well one side anyway.

Work has slowed a little since the weather has allowed more flying. I have done some more center section work the aluminum support tubes were cut and fit. The front two cit perfect the rear one i cut too short. It is just posing for the picture i picked up another tube and will redo it. The drag braces are glued in. And the uprights and the gear legs are stained. I got the brake hubs attached to the wheels. They are welded. And i picked up the rotax 503, its going to get some TLC.

Got in some shop time today. Glued the seat back in place and did some measuring for the rudder peddles. I gave the gearbox and the exhaust manifold a good cleaning.

The wood member that fits behind the seat back is glued in place. A little more varnishing making sure the holes drilled for the landing gear and such were varnished. Then worked on getting the belt drive off the engine. Didn't get far. I am going to need to find a puller for it. The exhaust isn't great but i think at least the Y part is usable.

With the weather getting nicer I have been doing more flying than building. But i have stolen a few mins here and there for the little piet. I measured cut and fit the plywood for the top of the front. Doing some tinkering with the engine. I also got the brace wires strung on the center section. I have done quite a bit of varnishing. I finally sat in it for the first time. Good news i fit. I will neither confirm nor deny the making of airplane noises.
