more progress on the fabric work. covered the other elevator and did more tape and reinforcement patching.
but the slit i cut for the control horn opened more when I shrunk the fabric. I patched it but undecided if I want to leave it or start over. There is another reinforcement patch that goes over that area and a tape so it may not be too bad, but it is on the top of the elevator (of course) What would you all do?

I went ahead and put the tapes and patches on. It isn't too bad, I really wish it had been on the bottom instead of the top though. But it is an amateur fabric job and since it is my first attempt at doing it it isn't half bad looking. I may leave it for now and see how much fabric and ecobond I have left when the job is complete do decide if i want to redo it or not.

Braved the heat and put the fabric on my right aileron. That was harder then I thought it would be, but I think it will turn out ok after it is shrunk and the tapes are put on.

I shrunk the fabric on my aileron and did some of the tapes, It isn't perfect but certainly airworthy and I think when all the reinforcement patches and tapes are on it should look pretty good.

been working off and on at getting a wing covered. I used the method from the Stewart systems youtube page and put felt on the leading edge then covered the bottom. It still has some ironing to do on it.

What is the purpose of the felt? Do you glue the felt on?

May the force be with you. The iron is magic in it's ability to create a work of art; like a sculpture's chisel or a painters brush. Your airplane will be a work of art.

fabric is still going on slowly. The top of the center section now has skin. I just hope I didn't forget to do anything important in there.

Cy V, I hate to say it but i have no idea how many hours so far, I was really good at keeping track at first but then not so much.

I have been working on the rib stitching on the wings, getting the hang of it

took a little mental health time in the shop today and put the tapes on the top of the wing over the rib stitching. felt like it was kind of a shame to cover the wood with fabric and now to cover all the stitch work with the tapes.

It was time to flip the wing over and do the rib stitching on the bottom. I had to use a curved needle on every other rib due to the way the wing was braced so couldn't get a long needle all the way through the wing. I got the ribs stitched and some of the tapes on. One wing very close to being ready for paint.

finally finished the tapes on the left wing, and did the center wing section. Now the left wing and center wing part is ready for paint. This thing might fly yet.

You could make it by this summer and I hope you do. In this world of instant gratification building an airplane does not qualify . Keep your eye on the prize and you will put air under those wheels.

I really hope so aeronut. How rewarding would a nice late summer evening fight be in the little piet? You've probably wondered why the wheels were off the last few photos. I decided the axle was a bit too short and that the brake drums would end up cutting the bungee cords. So I ordered a longer tube to add a few inches to each side. Not only will this give me more clearance for the brake drums but probably give a little bit better ground handling. I also got a few little odds and ends done as well.

More plugging away. The right aileron is hung on the wing now. I fabricated a few metal parts and put a coat of paint on them.

getting too low on the echo bond glue to start the top fabric of the right wing. So while waiting for an order of it I made a trip to sherwin williams for some paint. After testing it on some scrap fabric I felt brave enough to brush a coat on the vertical fin. I plan to brush the first coat on to get it into the fabric then spray the second and if needed the third coat on.
