i soaked and bent the first leading edge plywood panel around the leading edge of my wing. I will leave it a day or two then varnish the inside of it and glue it in place.

I had a chance to swap a Minimax for a Piet that was uncovered recently. Maybe I could've had you cover it! |

Puff covering is another skill i will have to learn as i go. I am actually kind of looking forward to that part. I pulled the plywood off the nose ribs today after marking it where the glue will be applied, then i varnished the areas that won't be covered in T-88 with a couple of coats, now letting the varnish dry before gluing it on permenantly. |

I finally got the time to get that second piece of plywood glued to the leading edge of the wing after 2 coats of varnish on the inside of it i had some mixed t-88 left so glued one of the strips of plywood to the edge of the wing.

The parts of the whole airplane are coming together nicely. Before you know it the covering process will be happening and then paint and assembly. The process is going well for you. What is your goal for completion? |

I haven't thought of a completion date, perhaps late fall, or early next spring, I still have to go though the engine, run the plumbing for the fuel and instruments. control cables, and cover it. |

Looks good cdl once you get all the major components finished, ie the wood work, the finishing happens real fast. |

removed the wing panel from the wing after marking the places that will be covered in t-88. then drew lines to indicate where the glue will be on the inside of the panel and put on a coat of varnish. I had a little more time so mixed a small batch of t-88 and got some of the members glued in place that will keep the fabric from pulling the inner rib in when shrunk.
Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I am still having a lot of fun with this build and still learning from it.

i got the third plywood skin glued onto the leading edge when checking after it dried i noticed that there is a little ridge between the second and third panel but i think the tapes before the fabric will keep it covered and more damage will be done trying to fix it than letting it go, i will get some opinions from other builder types before i let it go though. i also got the inner rib on the second wing trimmed to the attachment brackets will go though it and dry fitted it.

Just a little tip, when you nico press sleeves and cable where you want it wrap a ziptie around the cables to hold everything in place. Looks good |

I didn't have much time this week for the little piet this week. I did get some work done on it today though. The main gear was taken back off so the fuselage will fit out the door to the room it is in. It will be re-assembled in the shop area, hopefully after the brake assembly is put on the axle and wheels. I also got more work done on the wing where the ailerons will be attached.

Saturday I went to a friends and we made some airplane parts. We got the brake fittings made and straitened the pipe on my muffler. Today I got the rest of the top of my wing done and can now flip it over and do the bottom plywood gusset parts.
