I Glued the cross members into the front of my fuselage, I also ordered a 6 gallon fuel tank for the airplane to make sure the compartment for it will be the right size

Best wishes on your Piet build.  Your construction looks impeccable!  I just purchased Ragwing plans myself.

The weather was crummy so spent more time on the project. I managed to cut and glue the diagonals for the top. I did some varnishing specially in the areas that are going to be harder to later. Did lots of sanding. Then cut out the pieces for the gas tank platform.

It has been almost a year since I started this project. So in a year i managed to build all 22 ribs. The horizontal stab., elevators, vertical fin, and rudder. The fuselage is in the blat stage. It still needs the seat put in. The turtle deck. And a few more small things.

Great job on the airplane as well as this build documentation. I am enjoying watching a plan come together into a usable airplane. Have you made a choice about the engine yet?

The fuel tank is test fitted. The door was cut out, it seamed strange cutting a chunk out of the fuselage. Now working on the seat. I also spent some time with the plans, a calculator and the Aircraft Spruce website to get the materials needed to start on the landing gear.

I measured out and cut the 1/4" plywood for the seat seat back and the flooring i did not fasten them in yet sice i think it will be easier to install the torque tube and cables before securing them.
I also cut the tail flush then decided to add an extra peice of 1/8" plywood over it for an extra gusset and strength. Probably dint need to but piece of mind.

Oh an as far as work ethic, you mean this is work? I am ejoying the project its a little addicting.

I put the door back on then started to work on the landing gear. The left leg is glued in the jig.

Pulled the left gear leg out of the jig and put it against the bottom of the fuselage. The fit wasnt even close. Timed a little. Then a little more. Some more again untill the leg was nothing close to the dimensions. So take 2. I found the scrap from cutting out the side of the plywood and made a template of the fuselage bottom then built the jig around that. Hopeing this one fits better.

A little more work on my landing gear. Cut out two plywood sides for the right leg and glued one side on. I decided even though it will use more material to cut the sides out of one piece so there are no joints and all the joints in the oak wood are covered and well gusseted.

The left gear leg is almost done. Still need to run a router along the edges and varnish. I have also been working on cutting out the plywood to cover the right leg.

I did some more work on my landing gear. I finished cutting the plywood sides and glued one on the right gear leg.then started working on some of the metal fittings to fasten the legs on.

I got more done on the gear today. Spent a few hours measuring, cutting, and drilling metal and wood to get the left gear leg on the fuselage. It isnt on tight since it has to come back off to be routed. That isnt done because i am borrwing a router and it is not in my posesion yet.
There also more varnishing to do. The right gear let has the second side of plywood on it and the T-88 is curing.
The gear is getting there still less than half done with this part of the project.

Wingnut,
You might want to consider having the gear legs physically make contact with the bottom of the fuselage as is done on the Minimax. I think the logic Wayne used when he designed the Minimax was to transfer the loads directly into the fuselage. Also note the 1/4" plywood pad glued to the bottom skin to stop side loading the hinge. If you have a gap like you have now I believe the hinge bolts will open up and get sloppy pretty quick. Page 15 on the Minimax plans should show you how. See attached plan page 15
