Some info, if anyone else is interested: http://www.oshkosh365.org/ok36.....180&topicid=3670 Coop, great work on the gear. How's that prop working out? I been thinking of getting one for my 447, like the wood prop look.
luis, it is also unique in the fact that the wing panels work for either side same for tail fin and rudder are interchangeable. |

your redrive looks almost identical to the Magnum Redrives used on kawaski engines, I see no reason why it wouldn't work.

Thanks Ricardo, but there are no bolt holes at all on this engine except for the 4 engine mounting holes. Thanks again and who knows, those plans maybe savataged for us hun hunters.......Lol...

| On the subject of sectionals, I picked up an IFly 700 at OSH this year and have been using it for the past several weeks. It's a GPS that overlays your flight path on a sectional chart. I'm pretty happy with it. It has a 7" screen, comes loaded with all the sectionals, airport date, Approach plates etc. There is a $69 annual fee for all updates, so I don't have to worry about buying sectionals. For $499, I think it's a pretty good deal, esp. for VFR flying. Just in case you're in the market. |

Hello Knut,
I don't have any experience with their products but it certainly looks good. If you are looking at purchasing an engine monitor for yourself also look at the products from MGL Avionics http://www.mglavionics.co.za specifically their E1 & E2 engine monitors.
I have no problem with the products from TL and don't work for MGL but I have used their instruments before and will again in my Max. Also the price cannot be beaten, you can get an E1 plus 2 CHT & 2 EGT probes for much less.
Aeroshop http://www.aeroshop.no is their distributor in Norway.
Colin.

MarK: Maybe this design, posted by a member no longer around, can help you with your project. Its a reduction drive up to 50 HP. Dimensions are in milimiters. Is written in Russian, sorry I can't help with that. In case you want I larger copy I can e-mail to you. Colors don't mean nothing in particular, I wanted to paint parts for easy identification but lost interest. Regards Ricardo |

| I would be interested in the 2 place max as I know a lot of people would be. The tricycle landing geared UL is nice but not sure how much interest there will really be. |

Actually Nos, the bearings are in the main pulley. Once you have tightened the belt, you then tighten the main nut on the shaft that is protruding the upright part of the redrive. There are 2 bearings in the main pulley......Thanks Mark |

| I used the standard band brakes. All I needed to do to use them was make a strap aluminum z shaped brace ,will try to get photo of it next time i'm at hanger |

On the folding wings. I am afraid that there just is not time to include even a simple folding option in this incarnation of the Aero-Max...sorry guys. On the up side, its just five bolts and one or two hoses and the wings are off but that requires two people.
I am told that a folding option was previously offered but there was little interest. Maybe in the future if there is serious interest.
The Aero-Max is imminent. We are happy to take orders them now.
The next cab off the rank is the Mini-Max Lite, a 254 lb tricycle u/c version. Proof construction has already started and is progressing in parallel with finalization of the Aero-Max. The time frame for this is not yet certain but I would estimate about 10...

| Yeah, looks to be the standard 1" O.D. Bronze bushings. Thought that since the straight-through horizontal axle was no longer needed, you might be able to use "real" bearings. They fit into the openings in the wheel, but have ball bearings that reduce the axle size to 5/8". Are you also using the standard band brakes? If so, how do you deal with mounting them, now that you don't have the wooden legs to mount into? |

Hi Larry, Yes that is exactly what I want just this one I have the plans for with the 277 . Also what do you think is best for the 277, belt redrive or a gearbox, I have a 277 engine but no gearbox or prop, what exhaust is normally used? And could you explain a little bit more about the safety ADs clear tubes etc. I just don't quite understand. And that would be great if I good buy the instruction manual from you.
Thank you,
Sterling |

I am an engineer working in the JDT Mini-Max research facility at Clarence Point in Tasmania, Australia. |
I had no idea there was such a facility in existence. Thank you for your post. I'm glad to hear that there is activity in the development of new models. The JDT website has been silent on this issue for so long, I was beginning to wonder if the company had any plans for long-term growth.
To be totally honest, the Aero Max concept has never appealed to me. What kind of time frame are you looking at for introducing the new models you mentioned?

I assume theres no provision holes near the crank area on this "New" Hun Buster. Are you incorporating Double row bearings for Load unload factor? That might help the lifespan of the drive or share the driven load on 2 bearing pillows. |

Sterling, It kind of depends on what look you want. The box stock miniMAX isn't the prettiest mAX, but there is nothing wrong with the way it flies. Mine is the box stock 277 powered model kitted in 1987. If this is what you want then I'd built it per plans with the safety ADs,( clear tubes and clamps on each end of the elevator push pull cable, and the upgraded torque tube to control yoke bracket). Keep it light, and have a ball!!
I would doubt if JDT would have the instruction manual, but let me see what I can come up with. I'm not sure of the status of Levi's miniMAX, I know it was in an accident, but don't know if he repaired it or not.

Hi Larry, You are right on about the long attachment pins and I think the standard 19 3/4" Minimax is plenty big for me, so it looks like I am only missing the instruction manual. Would you suggest I try and find a newer (after 1991) set of plans? If so what model are you flying and better yet what model would you suggest for me to build as my first, I think I want to use a Rotax 277 so I am guessing a MAX-103, or 1100R either better for bulding. suggestions? Also if I were to build from these prints would you try and update anything (like the heavier tail, brace tubes, flaps) or just go exactly by the plans, and do you think JDT would still have an instruction manual for this or do you have a spar...

Sterling, Sounds to me like you have a set of pre 1991 miniMAX plans. There are 21 pages of plans and an instruction manual. At 22" wide is probably before the cockpit sheeting which would make it 19-3/4" (give or take a little) wide or standard width fuselage. Would also have the light tail and the long rear wing attachment pins. Its not really any of the models you mentioned, but structure wise is closest to the MAX103. Levi's I think was a stock miniMAX. The guy he bought his kit from is a guy WE( TEAM of IOWA ) sold to another guy. In 1991 TEAM made some changes in the miniMAX and from then on the box stock miniMAX was known as the 1100R. Redesigned heavier tail, brace tubes instead of brace cables, changed the seat...

Hi, I have acquired some old Minimax plans but I am not exactly sure what model they are. They are printed on 11"x17" paper and I only have 1-21 pages, so first of all how many prints and what information am I missing from a complete set of plans? Also it is the 22" wide fuselage, the motor mount print states it is for the Rotax 277, and it looks just like the 1100F? with the flat fuselage and small square turtledeck, and the wind screen is just held on with little L brackets to the square fuselage front, just like Levi Self's 277 powered Minimax, also it has the flap handle, so how do I tell what this is, was there any differance between the 1100F and the 1100R other than the engine? And...

Ok Guys, This is the new redrive idea I have come up with. What do you think. Un like the other one, this connects the engine and redrive together while isolating them from the engine tube via the lord mounts.... By the way, these drawings are not to scale but hopefully will show you what I'm talking about....Thanks for your input....In case your wondering why I'm stuck on building this redrive, I have bought a new engine that came with Exhaust, carb, ground adjustable prop and redrive pulleys including the main pulley shaft. Don't ask what kind of engine it is because it's top secret and I don't want the Huns to find out. I am going to bust me some Hun But......Ha... Mark |
