Download the source base. Blah, blah. No, I am much too busy doing brain surgery and building fusion reactors with my other hand. It is not my job to design the software that you offered! |

Ok, I tried it again. I did a full factory reset of my Nexus 7 which only ever ran EasyVfr. Starting from a virgin machine, I checked install third party apps and downloaded f Droid. From that I downloaded Kwik EFIS v4.2. I installed it and when asked to run ran a perfectly black screen. |

The nexus 7 is a decently old device (2012-2013) on android 4.3-6.0 (which version is it on?) It could be that its just old enough to not support the framework that this app was written in? |

Nexus 7 was one of the last built and runs 6.1 It only ever is used for EasyVFR. No other apps are used so I clean it out fully before trying out a new app which goes to the phone if it is good. |

I am pleased to announce a new addition to the Kwik lineup of free EFIS products. Kwik Composite is now available through F-Droid. This app is a combined composite display of Kwik EFIS and Kwik DMAP. Displaying the primary flight display and the moving map on a single device. It is still under development, however Version 1.0 is now available. https://search.f-droid.org/?q=kwik&lang=en |

That's a nice close-up photo. Can you show us a photo of that software running on a cell phone mounted in an airplane? I'm concerned that at cockpit distance, so much information would overwhelm the screen the screen with tiny data rendering it useless. But a photo would put that worry to rest. Sure would be nicer to have all that information available. |

It is not a photo. It is a screen cap directly from a Nexus 7 Tablet. I have some flight videos. I'll upload them and post the link here. |

That would be great! I've been considering how to mount my Sansung Galaxy S4 on the instrument panel so I can use the Avare moving map function. But the distance from these old eyeballs to the instrument panel makes the data hard to read without leaning forward and peering at the glass, instead keeping my eyes of outside the cockpit. A flight video sounds like just the right solution. Thanks for keeping us posted! |

It is pretty much a function of the device that you choose to use. I have used the Nexus 7 tablets with some success. Having said that, make sure that they are running the latest version of Andriod that they can (ver 5.1.1) otherwise the open-skies-nework traffic feed will not authenticate and thus not work correctly. Using a tablet with a GSM (ie has a SIM card) is preferable, but using your phone as a WiFi hotspot also works (but drains both batteries) |

I have also been using a Samsung G5. I fount that to be a reasonable compromise between size, price and performance. The best is is to borrow and try few devices and see which works best for you. Sunlight readability is another factor to consider. Some phones and especially tablets are not particularly good in direct sunlight.
All the Kwik applications has a "High Contrast" theme that does about as well as it can do in bright conditions. Switch off the synthetic vision also helps. |

The latest Kwik suite of EFIS Android apps has completed FOSS certification. Certified and Signed copies are now available on FDroid. Version 6.0 is a major release which brings a few new goodies: * Implement OpenWeatherMap precipitation overlay on maps * Improved ADS-B traffic display * Generic aircraft instead of individual * Performance enhancements The best way is to use the FDroid app https://f-droid.org/en/ or otherwise download from the usual sources: Homepage: http://ninelima.org/efis/download.html FDroid: https://search.f-droid.org/?q=kwik&lang=en |
