Starting wings. Any advice or lessons learned? The spars are first (EROS 1650). I'm amazed how much detail is in the plans for just spars.

I guess not then, ey. Haha. It must be fairly easy 👀

But yeah no advice from me either because I'm actually just about start my wings also.

And I don't know if I'd say "just spars". I mean, they're pretty important for the integrity of the wing. Buuut I'm just breaking your balls. I think I know what you mean. They're good plans.

Bonding the aileron nose skin to aileron spar caps, I had placed the staples on the center line of the spar caps, seemed like a logical place to put 'em right. Well after the epoxy dried (OK cured, dont pick on me), had realized I had a lousy glue joint as the skin was not held down tight to the caps aft of the staples (towards the edge of the skin/panel). Yeah a picture would be helpful but dont have any. Lot of work to cut it off, clean up the epoxy and fit up new ones, trust me. When I did it the second time I placed the staples near the aft edge of the caps and worked awesome-ly.
I think the manual says "no need to soak the aileron skins as they bend easily"? I found it much easier to do them with a soak and dry in a jig. Not that they are tough to bend but rather they are easier to HANDLE if they are formed. Think semi-rigid C-shaped part vs, limp noodle all whilst coated with epoxy.

Thanks flydog. That's actually the one part of the wing construction that I'm a little weary of. I'll definitely soak and pre-bend using a form for both the aileron and wing leading edge skins.

The below link is from when I did the leading edge ply. Hopefully it's helpful.

Didn't somebody use 3 or 4" pipe to as a jig to bend those?
