Hi,
Engine run-up today got me surprised. My Rotax 277 has cdi on it.
Kill switch is functional during idle (2000rpm, cooled engine from starting).
I noticed after running from higher rev (4000-5000rpm) then backed to lowest throttle setting the engine won't idle backed but remained about 2500-2650 rpm.
(even turned idle needle to reduced idling still motor runs the same as above.

When switched to cut the engine. It won't stopped! But the Tiny Tach indicated Hour Meter (not RPM)during this phase which engine still running.
Choke used to shut off.
I need helped!

Thanks in advanced.

Phil

This type being used as kill switch while terminals soldered. Does it matter?

a little troubleshooting here.
Try unhooking it completely and isolating the wires. See if it idles fine. Now SHORT the wires together, does it stop?

What wires do you have hooked to it? What color are they, and do you have the circuit drawing?

If you are not inside the minimax, but standing outside, shorting the plug will also stop it, but be careful, sparkplug bites hurt. (emergency use only to stop engine)

Check that one lead from your kill switch has a good connection to the kill wire (black I think on the 277) on the engine and that the other lead is connected to a good ground on the engine. Verify continuity off all wires with a multimeter. also use a multimeter to verify switch function. my guess would be you either have a bad connection at the kill wire or a bad ground.

Checked this morning the airscrew openning of 3/4 turned which is rich mixture.
I made 1-1/2 openning turn and tested.
Engine shut off!
Definitely, it was dieseling effect.
This is considerable that problem being solved.
Thanks for your inputs guys and keepsafe. God blessed.

Best regards,

Phil
