Hi folks! New guy here...I bought plans when I was a young man in '86. Finally starting a 1100r in the spring. Looking forward to the help I will find here. As an old man now, I have the time but not much resources...life is like that. If there is anyone in my area that is building don't hesitate to stop by. I spent the summer derusting the tablesaw and bandsaw after 30 years in the garage awaiting this project. I have been collecting wood over the past years so I'm okay there. But I want to mention a recent find. Menards is importing Both Nordic Spruce and Scots Pine from Ilem timber out of Bavaria Germany. The Spruce is too knotty but the Scots pine, while knotty offers a lot of clear areas for shorter pieces. I've even found more than 30 boards with either no knots or just 1. Scots Pine is similar to Douglas fir in weight and strengths...you can look it up on the wood database. Look for this out in the yard in 2x4 and 2x6 lumber. Since I live in a metropolitan area, I visit 4 stores every few days as the piles go down. Anyway I'm glad to be here. The Scots Pine is Abbeviated SCP on the stamp. |
