How does the upper wing spar brackets pass through the inside rib that is beefed up with plywood? Maybe I am having a brainfart moment! I can't figure how this will work without cutting into the reinforced rib.

You need to make a mod to both root rib and the the one next to it. A cut out needs to be made for these 2 ribs in both wings ( 4 ribs total ) so that the wing-attach straps and the 1/8 ply gusset on front and rear spar can pass through.  ( I too had to make this mod as the rib  set in the project I purchased did not have these cut-outs.)

But it is doable. I used a small rotary cutter for making the slots in root rib which was already glued to the 1/8 ply without the slots.  Some pics below:

Thanks Keith, the buzzards are the friendliest bunch o folks I ever met on a forum, the himax will be getting a super secret cushion that molds perfectly to the seat pan. Y'all gotta wait to see
