Gentlemen, I´ll start another batch of Tsurus and one of them will use a HKS 700E japanese engine. I have seen some photos in the web and Bert's (Sterling Silver) engine installation. Does some of you have photos or data (c.g., tips, total weight, etc) or whatever you have that could help me ? I thank you very much.

Hi Ricardo from Brazil
Ive been waiting for some other guys, but it seems that we dont have that knowledge about HKS engine. The only thing I know that HKS stopped production last year, so that might bring up issues like spare parts, support e.t.c.... The engine as far as I see not gained too much popularity.
Do you have this engine or you want to buy it now ?

Hi , Peter

My friend Jean Jacques used to fly a Trike powered by a Rotax 582 and bought this engine, zero time, to replace it, just like 2 other friends did at the same airfield. Then decided to sell the Trike to buy another one, newer, with a Rotax 912. Good deal.
Comparasions with the 582: HKS is more expensive to buy and to maintain. Burns a lot less fuel. Has less torque... less R.O.C. and less cruise speed. But, being a 4 stroke, gets a lot of smiles and fans.
We have a saying that says we cannot argue with anyone about taste.

What I heard is that the factory ceased production for a time but got it back into production http://www.greenskyadventures.com/
At GreenSky they are already taking orders for the E version (aspirated) and for the  T version (turbo ).

Bert "Sterling Silver" is going to send me some photos of his installation to help me out with this one. Thanks Bert.
I´ll keep you all informed about the progress.
Thank you guys.

Not a bad deal for 10K, although USD went up against EUR like hell. Its good to hear that they are back. Here HKS alternative on trikes is BMW 1150, 1200 engine with Takeoff (germany) reduction drive. 121 lb is an excellent weight. Same as a 4a084 stipped,  BMW would run around 170 lb, but thats 100-110 horses. Total cost could be around USD 6000 on that.
Monte is doing a 30 horse B&S conversion at 80 lb.
HKS is good power/weight ratio, its a good choice if you can afford it.

I think these are the correct pictures; if not, I'll delete the message and try again.

Distances to leading edge of wing (datum line)
Back of prop hub - 45 inches
Back of oil pump - 26 7/8 in. (26.875 in.)
Rear engine mounting bolt - 33 1/2 in. (33.50 in.)

Hope this helps.

In all but the last picture, what should be the tops of the pictures is on the left side of the pictures as posted. The pictures should be rotated 90 degrees clockwise. Hope that makes sense.
