There was a recent discussion about placing the pitot tube on the vertical stabilizer, I found this in the ACS catalog, and it looks like it should do the job. Will water in the tubing be a problem? I could put a tee in the line and extend the tube out the bottom of the fuselage and install a drain cock.

should not be unless you fly ih the rain, the drain is a good idea though.

Actually I was thinking of condensate rather than rain.
If it rains, I'll just fly inverted.

There are many homebuilt designs that use the vertical fin for the pitot static support.  One that comes to mind is the Thorp T-18. I dont know if they used a drain or not, but if you are interested I could check with the builder of one.

I've decided to mount it on the wing strut, then the lowest point will be the pitot tube. I think simplicity is the best course with ultalights.

I just added a block to bottom of the front spar flush with bottom of the wing , pre drilled and pre plumbed it , covered it with an inspection ring near the mounting area and plan on letting hang under the wing like a Cessna this is is on a  AirBike , Did I do something
wrong ??? Tell me now before I cut the hole in the fabric ??? OOW

Drop it down 6" or so and should not be too many errors  from wing airflow.

Has anyone pur the pitot tube through the leading edge of the wing? I have a "pitot pal" removeable pitot kit. Was planning on mounting the fitting to the spar, halfway out on the wing, and putting the tube through the leading edge. this pitot kit has a fitting, and the 1/4" aluminum tube presses into place, and removes when necessary (pitot damage, trailering wing, etc).

I have it through the leading edge on my Hi-Max.  It appears to be fairly accurate. On the Mini-Max it is on the strut and out of the way. Not too many people bump into it. A few want to grab on to it.
