With winter coming I'm thinking about how to make my open cockpit all season.  I pretty much finished up designing an add on "bubble" canopy and now am turning towards designing the heater/defrost system.  My 1/2 vw has approx 12" long 1" maybe 1 1/4" straight pipes pointing down.  I'm thinking of welding two 2" stainless steel "t" tubing fittings to a short piece of 2" stainless tubing, weld some nuts onto the tube (over holes) and run sharpened bolts through them to "clamp" the stainless tube over one of the exhaust pipes then pack the ends with the fiber rope gasket used on wood burner doors.
I plan on facing the inlet tee forward to the prop blast and using a damper in the cockpit to regulate it but am stumped on what to use for the ducting.  Last thing I want is to have something that overheats and fills the cabin with smoke.
Any ideas or suggestions welcome.
