I've been a stubborn hold out on latex finishing, mainly because of concerns on future repairs, but have read that it is possible to use xylene as a solvent to clean the fabric of cured paint.  Does it work or if not is there another proven way to do it ?  I've got a few yards of cloth in the rafters I might make some test pieces with, I think I might finally have to accept that it is the way...
